| General Overview | Joseph grew up in the former United States, in the state of New York. He had grown up in the mountains, running around and enjoying nature. He had been an only child during those years. When he joined Starfleet, his parents had died in a very unfortunate transporter accident. He spent his years working himself to the bone to make sure that he graduated and got the best posting in the Fleet that he could. | |

| Personal History | Born in 2338 to Eugene and Lena Sledge, Joseph was a explorative child. He was always running up and down the mountains that they lived near. During school he was often fascinated with prewarp Earth history and the pioneers of old. When he was 16, he was given permission to enter Starfleet academy early, taking to flight and engineering easily. Taking an extra year for extra courses in the Academy, Joseph graduated with near top honors, being beaten for valedictorian by a Vulcan. He took a posting for a short while at Utopia Planitia, helping design new impulse reactors for small craft. Soon he was on his first ship and exploring the galaxy. When the Dominion War broke out, the ship he was Conn Officer for, the U.S.S. Deliverance, was nearly destroyed in one of the first conflicts. After spending time at Starfleet Medical recuperating from his injuries, which were severe, he was reassigned to another ship, the Curahee. He stayed there until his new orders, to report to the U.S.S. Concord as her new XO. |
