Mission: Mission 2 - Death is Only the Beginning
Captain Tyler Driskill sat on the bridge of the Nebula-class starship. While part of his senior staff were aboard an alien ship, they were responding to a distress call. The ship was significantly smaller than the USS Concord and they were only picking up about twenty eight life-forms other than their own crew. The ship was severely damaged and on last report the Captain was unconscious and in need of medical attention. Of course the Captain had authorized a transport directly to sickbay along with the ships Chief Medical Officer and any other wounded Kobali has they had informed the Starfleet crew their species was called.
Lieutenant Gulati had taken over the Operations station, monitoring everything carefully while several members of the crew including Sledge were on the Kobali vessel. She noticed an irregularity on the alien vessel. "Captain," she called out with concern in her tone of voice.
"I'm detected a sudden elevation of radiation in several areas of the Kobali vessel and there is a peculiar..." Gulati raised her head "Get them out of there, now!"
=/\= "Concord to away team, we are detecting elevated radiation levels. Prepare to beam everyone to the Concord" =/\= the Captain was speaking over the communication system to his First Officer. He hoped they would be able to get to safety before the radiation affected anyone or the ship was in danger of being destroyed.

Joseph had been directing the Engineering efforts in repairing the Kobali vessel with one of their crew members. He had been helping when and where he could, his positronic prosthetic hand helping as he was able to split his hand and have manipulator's come from his finger tips to help.
When the the call came in from Concord, Joseph stood up and called out "You heard the Captain! Everyone prepare for Transport! Gallagher! You're with me! Let's see if we can stop it from overloading!"
At that moment most of the engineering crew and the Kobali crew member headed for the area where the transporter room would have an easier time locking on to them. Joseph and crewman Gallagher made their way a bit deeper. He spoke "You had down that corridor and see if you can clamp off their EPS grid, I will control the flow regulators from over here." He nodded to the man after giving the order.
After about twenty minutes or so the Concord had managed to transport its own crew and the remaining Kobali off their ship. =/\= “Concord to Commander Sledge. We have all but two life signs beamed aboard” =/\=.
=^="Roger that Concord. We just need a moment or two to lock down this leak!=^= Joseph turned to look down the corridor. He called out to the crewman just as the plasma leak turned in to a full blown breach. The scream of the crewman filled the communications link, and before long Joseph's own scream joined the cacophony, both his screaming the name of the crewman, to the scream of extreme pain as the plasma reached him, catching his left hand in the flow.
“Get them out of there and move the ship to safe distance there’s nothing we can do to save the ship” Tyler ordered Gulati and his helms man.
As the starship proceed to put distance between them, Lieutenant Gulati scrambled at a console. Readings were erratic and an immediate spike caused interference. "DAMN IT!" she shouted and slammed a fist down on the console.
Helm was already pulling them away from the alien ship. Lieutenant Gulati was only able to a firm lock on one of them, began transport, and then had a decision to make as the energy readings were alarming. The Concord was not going to make it. There was not enough time, not nearly enough to get distant enough.
"Raising shields!" Lieutenant Gulati announced. She immediate rerouted energy to fortify the shields. The explosion of the alien starship caused a wave to hit the Nebula class starship and rocked them off course as consoles sizzled and sparked, Gulati was thrown to the floor and the Concord struggled from going adrift.
Lieutenant Gulati coughed as thick dark gray smoke partially overtook the bridge, billowing out from comsoles. "Captain," Gulati called out.
“Report” Tyler called back as the smoke started to clear via the environmental control system. He hoped it wasn’t bad but Tyler knew the damage an exploding ship can cause.
It was not the damage Gulati cared about. "Sir, I couldn't-" she said and a mournful tone crept in. "I was able to transport one of them, but not both. I'm sorry. It was either risk another attempt with the second transport or risk us all and the Concord."
“Understood” Tyler paused and glanced down before looking at Gulati “who did you get?”
"I cannot tell for certain. I think, Lieutenant Commander Sledge Sir. Whichever one I got, they are in Sickbay."
He needed to know who made it back. “Get a damage report from each department” Tyler addressed Gulati. “I’ll leave you to coordinate repair efforts. I’ll be in sickbay” the Captain was already headed toward the turbo lifts. He had an alien crew to greet and needed to know if his First Officer had made it back.
